LANDSCAPES
Bresse Bourguignonne is a vast, hilly plain nestled between the foothills of the Jura to the east, the Doubs river to the north, and the Saône river to the west.
It is characterized by its farmland criss-crossed with hedges, its grain crops and its woodlands.
Bresse is dotted with many ponds and rivers, to the delight of fishermen who catch carp, pike, roach, bream, sun bass, bleak, pike-perch, black bass and catfish.
The largest river, the Seille, is navigable along the 39 km between Louhans and La Truchère, and takes its source in the foothills of the Jura before meandering quietly through Bresse Bourguignonne.
