Nestled at the bottom of the Jura foothills, Cuiseaux offers visitors its medieval ruins including ramparts, a fortified 12th century gate, called the" Verger" gate, and narrow streets. HISTORICAL CENTRE A document for the visit of the historic center is available in the Tourist Office.
THE VINTNER AND HIS VINEYARD Cuiseaux was an important winegrowing region up until the end of the 19th century. Today, only a few vinestocks remain on the hillsides. This house with its cellars, storage areas and barns recreates the daily life of a 19th century winegrower.
You'd like to continue discovering Just a few minutes from Cuiseaux, the villages of Joudes, Champagnat and Frontenaud still boast old fountains, wells and wash-houses. These facilities, no longer used today, provided lively meeting places for villagers in the old days. |
