Just a few kilometers from Louhans, Rancy and its neighboring village Bantanges have been important centers for  straw chair manufacturing in Bresse since the 19^th century.
            At night in the village centre you can admire "Cathèdre 5", a sculpture with a projection of chair shadows created by Anne Laure Darrot.

            Chair-making activities developed on the banks of the Seille between Louhans and Tournus around 1800. The restoration of former workshops and the exhibit of numerous documents make it easier to understand the evolution of this profession.
