VERDUN SUR LE DOUBS
39 km from Louhans-Châteaurenaud

Harbor © H.Monnier              At the confluence of the Doubs and the Saône, Verdun sur le Doubs, registered a "Green Holiday Resort", delights both fishermen and boaters.
Thanks to the waters full of fish in its two rivers, this pleasant little town offers delicious local specialities, the most famous of which is the Pôchouse.
The Saint Jean church, re-built in the 17th century, the Treize Chapel, the Saint Jean bridge and the half-timbered houses are all reminders of the town's rich history in the heart of a grain-growing region.

Maison du Blé et du Pain © Ecomusée de la Bresse BourguignonneIt is in the heart of this grain-growing plain in the Saône valley that the first cooperative silos in France were built in 1930. Here an old barn, a bakehouse and an 18th century house recreate the activities of wheat growing, flour milling and baking.
